Did I ever tell you how much I like this way of quilting?
Sept. 3rd: I drove by a yardsale and had to go back. they had a small desk. I've been looking for something to replace the 2'x4' table I'd been using for a sewing table. You see the one complaint I have with the tables you can buy to set up easily is they tend to bounce when I'm sewing. Don't get me wrong, the table I had was nice, I loved the adjustable legs because I could get the height right. But I hated the bouncing table top.
Anyway I spotted this desk in the yardsale. So I stopped and asked about it. She only wanted $5! It was probably the quickest sale the whole day. I made arrangements to pick it up later. It fit inside my Vitara easily and I managed to unload it by myself onto a table. I covered it up (looked like it might rain overnight) and asked a friend to help me fix the one side that was loose.
Sept 4th: got the desk sturdied up and into the house this afternoon. Couldn't wait to try it out. It was an inexpensive computer desk with one drawer and a place to put the computer tower (which I got three shoebox size storage drawers to put in there for more drawer-space). Not fancy but very workable for me. I pulled out the baby quilts and played around for a few hourswow! I'm actually getting to quilt!
Sept 5th: Well, I finished the first row of the Proto quilt and the center of Carter's quilt and looked up to see it was 2 am. Oh well, who's watching the time when you're having quilting fun! Best $5 I ever spent!
Please note, this was all I got done with this before complications arose, but I'm including it for the few thoughts compiled. Most of the revised September/October newsletter became November's newsletter
(that's why November is in two parts!)Just remember, I'd rather be quilting!
