The following Quilting Designs for the beginner are all Traditional quilt blocks done in the One Block Only style. Each pattern is shown in a large format so you can get a good idea of what you might like to try.

Lap Size Quilts or Wall Quilts

Sandhills

Another of my prairie memories comes from Sandhill Plum Jam. This is an easy block of a center four-patch, arrowheads and chevrons. Looks hard but isn’t. Experiment with florals and stripes with pattern.

This looks extremely complicated at first glance. But not to worry. It uses Tri-Sqs, Stripping, Flying Geese with a few squares thrown in—to give it excitement.
